📖 A Noble Diplomatic Shift?. Analyzing the Impact of Zimbabwe's Foreign Relations with China on its Socioeconomic Development, 2003-2016..

Following Zimbabwe’s execution of the contentious Fast Track Land Reform Programme (FTLRP) on the dawn of the millennium, joint forces of the United States, European Union, Australia and New Zealand responded by declaring the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act (ZIDERA) in 2001, which perpetrated earth-shattering socioeconomic effects on the former. Enthused by joint philosophies of realism and constructivism, Zimbabwe retorted by implementing the Look East Policy (LEP), with primary focus of reinforcing her relations with China as a strategic approach to redeem its economy from downright collapse while synchronously safeguarding its global interests. It is against such a backdrop that this study examined the nobility of Zimbabwe’s diplomatic shift from the West to particularly China and the bearing it has on her socioeconomic development trajectory between 2003 and 2016. This study took a nonaligned, unbiased and independent discussion that is of paramount importance to Zimbabwe’s foreign policy makers, opinion makers, erudite society, media and general folks.
