Aeromonads are emerging foodborne pathogens. The present study was undertaken to standardize PCR assay for detection of Aeromonas spp. and its toxins viz., aerolysin (aer) and thermostable cytotonic enterotoxin (ast) from livestock foods and environmental samples and compare its efficacy with conventional cultural methods. Antibiogram of Aeromonads isolated from these products was also undertaken to asses the threat to public health.
