The issue of listening strategy instruction is a recent phenomenon and getting due attention today. This paper explains the major problems EFL learners encounter while listening to native speakers on the tape and on the television. The paper also forwards a way out to solve these problems. It deals with the extent to which listening strategy instruction improves students' listening achievement and strategy use. It also addresses the attitude of the learners towards the new instructional approach and the listening skills.
