📖 Bar-room Violence. A Comparative Study between Germany and Finland.

This book is looking at violence in the bar-room. More explicitly violent incidents involving young men in the bar-room are explored. As this study is a comparative study between Germany and Finland men’s cultures, violence and the bar as a public social setting are analysed. The author compares different drinking styles and patterns but also explores in detail the history of bars in both countries. This study is the final Master thesis the author graduated from the University of Kuopio, Finland in 2006. The aim of this study is to give the reader deeper insights into bar-room violence and the role of active participants in a fight. This book presents detailed analysis of fighting and its course taking place, with the fighter as the focal point. This study should enable a better understanding of bar fights to be gained. This book is addressed for researchers in the field of Social Sciences, with particular interest in alcohol research, gender studies, studies in violence and deviant behaviour as well as for practitioners in the addiction field.
