Industrial discharge to water bodies without prior treatment affects water quality. Industrial discharges contribute a wide variety of pollutants and include high concentrations of organic compounds and metals as a result of the food, pulp, paper, starch and edible oil. Poor qualities of the Egyptian northern lakes water threaten the health and livelihoods of millions in Egypt, and pollute the Mediterranean Sea. Increasing of pollution in Manzala Lake is the result of discharging several drains such as Bahr El-Baqar, Hadous and Mataryia drains. This book is useful in monitoring the changes in Physico-chemical and microbiological characteristics of Manzala Lake water due to the pollution from some factories in the industrial zone South Port Said. This book is useful for the scientist interested by the identification of the potential sources of pollution and its effect on water, sediment and fish quality.
