Moderate sedation is a drug-induced depression of consciousness during which a patient responds purposefully to verbal commands, either alone or accompanied by physical stimulation. No interventions are required to maintain a patent airway and spontaneous ventilation is adequate.It is a safe and effective technique to reduce anxiety , produce analgesia, and enhance effective communication between a patient and health care provider and has proved to play a pivtol role in management of patients.
