This book emphasis the representation of the alternate versions of histories of colonized people. Earlier the colonizers presented them that they had no history, culture of their own and taken upon themselves the task of presenting their histories from their own perspective in which they presented it as inferior. But later on, the writers from various colonized colonies attempted to re-appropriate the monolithic and univocal versions with alternative and multiperspectival histories of suppressed and marginalised societies, tribes, subalterns and little known communities.
