📖 Prospect of Generating EcoSystem Services Through Carbon Sequestration..

Payment for Environmental services (PES) is an emerging paradigm in land use management in which land and natural resource users provide environmental services for some form of payment within specified/ agreed conditions. This piece of work has estimated the carbon sequestrated by Suryavinayak Community Forest in Bhaktapur Nepal and calculated-- how much it worths if the carbon credits are sold in the global carbon market. The financial revenue it could generate could serve as an incentive for forest user groups to better manage their forest by investing more in protection measures, thus generating more environmental and social gains for the community and beyond. This study hopes at least to make community people know how much their forest worth if they protect it and enter carbon trading. In this study, biomass stored in the forest and soil was estimated for the carbon sequestered; based on which it is argued how can they enter in to PES and benefit from it.
