In industry, enzymes were used as tools to catalyze specific and unique operations to yield product of important applications. Proteases, as a unique group of enzymes, had a wide applications in pharmaceutical industries by their direct use as collagenases (blood clot removal), trypsin and chymotrypsin (anti-inflammatory) or the use of their products as in hydrolyzed feeding formulas for infants and immune-compromised patients. Immobilized enzymes are often more stable than free one. They provides important advantages, such as enzyme reutilization for many processes and can be employed in a wide range. Separation of the immobilized enzyme from other components in the reaction mixture is simplified.
